The 2-day Women’s Small Business Summit was a huge success

The 2-day Women's Small Business Summit was a huge success!

How we are supporting women-led small businesses in partnership with Pin Payments.

There was a flurry of energy and activity as 200 women entered the Science Gallery at Melbourne University for Day 1 of the Women’s Small Business Summit. It was the first major event we hosted in-person this year. The room was full of colour, conversation and laughter. The one barrister rostered on definitely couldn’t keep up with the coffee orders.

The focus of the Summit was on digitisation. We brought together over 20 speakers and experts across 2 days of in-person and virtual events to share their tips on building an online business or using online tools for business growth and automation. Our keynote speaker Jen Sharpe, Founder of ThinkHQ, shared how she built a cash flow positive business turning over tens of millions of dollars, with a headcount of over 80 employees. She recounted when she started out with no networks, no business experience and just $5k in the bank.

We like to design our events with purpose and a difference. So our attendees were put into breakout groups with guest speakers covering a range of topics specific to automating and digitising your business. With 3 rotations, this allowed for deeper and more intimate discussions to take place with an expert.

On Day 2, we held a virtual panel event with a group of women founders who have all built and scaled online businesses and global movements. They shared their tactics, successes, failures, hardest moments and their next big goals.

This Summit marked the beginning of another year of our partnership with Pin Payments.

Pin Payments allows small businesses to take card payments online. They are Australian-based and the company is led by an amazing woman co-CEO. Their clients include many of our friends Finders Keepers, Fig & Bloom and Pet Rescue. One Roof are also proud clients! Like us, Pin Payments goes above and beyond to help small business owners.

As part of the partnership, Pin Payments has kindly sponsored 30 women with a One Roof membership for an entire year. This means each of these business owners gain support, connection, coaching, mentorship and business resources for one year – all for free.

We are so excited to welcome such a diverse range of women and businesses to the community, including a food photographer, podcast expert, subscription based business, the owner of a peanut butter powder and even a breastfeeding apparel brand.

Shout out to Yasinta Widjojo, Caitlin Zotti, Maya Lochan and Rajina Dhillon from the Pin Payments team. We look forward to continuing this incredible partnership and thanks for all you do for women business owners!
